iPad for WMC!

If you’ve got a Windows Home Server, you’ll want to start visiting Terry Walsh’s site, “We Got Served.”

This article dropped into my mailbox today — “VidaBox Debuts Media Center Controls for iPad.”  I don’t have an iPad but I do have a Windows Media Center and this is awesome.  Why?

I don’t like single-purpose gadgets.  For example, look at this remote.  Or… this one.  And dozens of others like them.   All single purpose — remote control of audio-video equipment.

Why purchase a flatscreen, touchscreen, handheld display when all it can do is control some A/V gear?  What a waste!  It’s the same reason why I refrain from buying a dedicated GPS device.  It can and should do more.

Hmmm.  Perhaps this homebrew LCARS touch panel could find a place in my house.
