I forgot about this part of HP Tech Forum. The walking. And walking. The convention center at the Mandalay is *huge* and if 20 foot high ceilings weren’t enough to make you feel small, then the miles of walking back and forth will grind you to dust.
I remember going to one of these many years ago before Compaq had been purchasedby HP. Compaq had devoted an entire corner to Fun and R&R. When you went to this area, you could play arcade games. Free. They had about a dozen cafe-style tables with four PCs at each where you could join into networked games of DOOM or Quake. Billiard tables. Big poofy couches.
And there were massage booths.
I could really use a foot massage RIGHT NOW. There are about 5000 other people here who would probably go for any kind of massage.
Bring back the fun corner, HP!
Update: We just got swarmed by a flash mob of sorts. Trendy hipsters all in black with black Chuck-Taylors passed through handing out flyers for 48Upper. Hrm. Another social online community for… techies! It’s a revolution! They have a manifesto!
“48Upper is the first Social Collaborative IT Management solution to fully embrace social networking and the power of the community directly within the processes that run IT.”
Great. Just what I need. No foot massage AND another online community to join.
